Tecno has just unveiled a new budget smartphone in the Nigerian market. Once again, the Transsion Holdings-owned brand is extending its efforts to its key markets like Nigeria. The company has unveiled a new smartphone dubbed Tecno Spark 8C. Interestingly, this handset is the fifth for the 8 series. It had first announced the Tecno Spark 8, Spark 8P, Spark 8 Pro, and Spark 8T. While Infinix is gearing to introduce its first 5G phone, Tecno comes with the Tecno Spark 8C.
For now, the Spark 8C is exclusive to Nigeria, but we expect other markets like India to get it soon. Tecno has been expanding its presence in India and other Asian markets. Therefore, the Spark 8C may not be a Nigerian-exclusive for a long time.
Tecno Spark 8C specifications
The Tecno Spark 8C flaunts a 6.6-inch LCD display with an HD+ resolution of 1,612 x 720 pixels. The device has a waterdrop notch at the top that serves as a home for the 8 MP selfie snapper. Despite the low resolution when you take the display’s size into consideration, it’s good to see at least a 90 Hz refresh rate. So, the animations will still be smooth when navigating through the UI and applications.
Moving around to the back, the device has a rectangular camera island. It serves as a home for a dual-camera setup. Only the main is described as a 13 MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. The secondary snapper, on the other hand, is an AI lens. The camera module also houses an LED flash unit. The rear camera system comes with some features like HDR Mode, AR Stickers, Time-Lapse mode, AI Scene recognition, Bokeh mode, etc.
Gizchina News of the week
Next to the camera sensors, we have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The phone also boasts AI face unlock so you can choose your favorite biometric authentication method. Under the hood, the handset draws its powers from a 5,000 mAh battery. Unfortunately, there is no word on fast-charging support. Therefore, we expect to have a limited 10 W charging. In terms of storage, we can extend this device’s memory with a micro SD card slot.
For now, the company didn’t disclose the exact chipset behind this handset. However, the speculations suggest an Unisoc T610 Octa-Core chipset. However, the device is listed with 2 GB or 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of Internal Storage. Moreover, it comes with Memory Fusion which allows you to extend the RAM virtually.
Tecno is likely bringing this device to India soon, so we expect more details to emerge in the next few weeks.
